ZZ Player privacy notice

How the ZZ Player Android app and website handle information.

Who to contact

This notice covers ZZ Player, published under the developer name ZappyZing, and zzplayer.net. For privacy questions or requests about information held by our services, email team@zzplayer.net. ZZ Player is playback software: no television channels, films, series, playlists or viewing subscriptions are supplied. Independent media providers are responsible for their own accounts and data.

App sign-in and service configuration

The app uses a generated installation identifier, device model, Android and app versions, connection information and activation/session records to obtain configuration, establish access, support the installation and protect the service. Hosting and service operators receive network information, including the connection IP address. Managed services can retain the latest connection time, IP address and country. A Supercode or portal code is sent to our activation/configuration service; it is not a media subscription sold by ZZ Player.

Provider sign-in sends your address, username and password to the provider you choose over HTTPS. Saved provider credentials use Android Keystore protection on your device. A managed address can be hidden in the interface while still being used to connect to the provider. Hiding an address is not a claim that it is never processed. The app does not need your media-provider password in a website enquiry or support message.

Local viewing information and files

Profiles, favourites, viewing progress, settings, downloaded guides and recordings are used for playback and personalisation. Recording and import/export features use storage locations you select through Android. Backups contain portable profile and settings data and exclude provider passwords and authentication secrets. Optional local-network backup transfer is token-protected but unencrypted: use a trusted private network. Signing out, uninstalling or clearing local storage does not erase server-held information.

Diagnostics and service receipts

Optional crash, performance and network-test summaries start disabled on new ZZ Player installs. Your saved explicit choice is respected and can be changed in Settings > Privacy. Summaries may contain the installation identifier, device/app/OS details and error or performance measurements. Optional viewing-performance monitoring, when enabled, can send channel-switch outcomes, routes, buffering/startup/stall measurements and error categories. Raw local log files are not part of the routine diagnostic upload payload.

Essential activation, service and security error receipts may be sent separately from optional diagnostics. These can contain installation identifiers, device details, app versions and error references. Turning optional diagnostics off does not prevent requests needed for sign-in, configuration or service security.

Weather and location

Manual city search runs locally using an offline GeoNames database. Forecast requests send a selected city's approximate coordinates and time zone to weather.zzplayer.net. This service rounds coordinates before requesting MET Norway forecast and sunrise/sunset data; it does not forward your installation identifier or original client IP to MET Norway. Cloudflare processes network requests to deliver and protect the service.

Automatic weather city selection requires an affirmative in-app choice. It estimates a city from the request connection's IP metadata, not from GPS. You can use manual weather or turn weather off instead. Separately, selected embedded web features may ask for device location. Android permission and a site-specific choice are required before permitted location access; background location permission is not declared.

Optional integrations and recipients

When you open an embedded page or online feature, that service and its hosting providers receive ordinary web request information and may use their own storage, cookies and privacy practices. Features can include SportsFixtures, HappenZing, NewsBeagle, radio directory services and media/artwork metadata services such as TVmaze and Cinemeta. The media provider you connect receives authentication and playback requests. Choosing an external media player passes the selected playback request to that player. The app checks supported player availability locally; it does not need access to your entire installed-app inventory.

Information sent to our activation, configuration and support services is handled through the organisation's CMS and CRM. Infrastructure providers process requests and service information to host, deliver and secure those services. We do not describe independent media providers or embedded websites as being covered solely by this notice; consult the service you choose for its own practices.

Website features and support chat

Feature search, automated guidance and the enquiry builder run in your browser. Draft enquiry text stays in page memory until you choose to copy or save it. The separate team chat sends the contact details you provide, Sales/Support topic, messages, page URL and connection information to our CMS and CRM at crm.shozzle.com to handle the enquiry. Supplying an email address does not prove ownership. Phone and LINE details are optional and used when you provide them. Chat does not itself opt you into marketing.

A conversation token in this browser tab's session storage lets you resume chat after reload. Clearing chat from this tab removes local access, not the team's record. Website hosting may process IP addresses, request URLs and browser headers. No third-party advertising or analytics scripts are installed by the website itself; embedded services have their own practices.

Retention and deletion requests

Retention depends on the purpose of each record. Routine diagnostics are kept for troubleshooting and reliability. Activation, installation, connection and support records are kept to operate the service, answer requests, prevent misuse and meet applicable obligations. These records do not all have the same automatic expiry. Essential error and security records may be retained without a fixed automatic expiry. Contact us to request review of the information held about your use of the service.

You can request access, correction or deletion of information held by our services by emailing team@zzplayer.net. State whether your request concerns app/service data or a website conversation, and provide enough non-secret information to identify it. Do not send passwords, Supercodes, payment details or unrelated personal information. We may need to verify that the request concerns your records. Tell us which information you want reviewed; local sign-out is not a server deletion request.

Requests concerning an independent media-provider account must be made to that provider. Some service records may need to be retained for security, fraud prevention or legal obligations. Removing the app, signing out or closing a local profile does not erase all service-side records. Requests to our privacy contact are handled separately from those local actions.

Permissions, security and payments

Network access supports sign-in, playback and online features. Wi-Fi/nearby-device and location permissions are used where selected network or web features require them. Notifications and foreground services support visible recording/playback tasks; exact-alarm access supports user-selected schedules. Android's system controls let you review permissions. The app does not request background location or an unrestricted list of installed apps.

Managed provider and service requests use HTTPS and reject HTTPS-to-HTTP downgrade redirects. The optional local backup transfer described above is an exception to encrypted transport. Protect your device and use sources you are authorised to access. The initial app release is free base; paid Premium products are not active. Any future Android software subscription will use Google Play billing and its privacy practices.

Optional app and bouquet PIN protection

Optional app and bouquet PIN protection is processed on your device. PIN protection data and account/profile lock state are stored locally; enabling a local PIN does not send the PIN to a content provider.
